Nayana is a citizen of the Metis Nation of Ontario. She has been verified to have connections to Canadian Government recognized historic Metis communities including the Red River settlement.

As well as being enrolled Metis Nayana has additional indigenous ancestry. Nayana has living biological familial connections to First Naton Communities. She is proud to be connected to those communities which she grew up spending time in and shaped her into the woman she is today. She is sorry that she cannot name them by name here due to enrollment laws related to the arts as she is enrolled Metis. However, she wanted to still mention them in this way because she wants her relatives in those communities to know that she is proud to share their blood and grateful for their continued love and support.  Nayana wants to acknowledge and give thanks to elders, aunties, uncles and cousins in those communities who have guided her and hopes she brings them pride.

Nayana is very active in the strong and loving indigenous community in which she was raised.
